Dogwood Berry Chair
From a Bitter Berry comes a Sweet Design
The Dogwood Berry Chair was created as the first project of my senior year. Inspited by the dogwood berries lying around RISD’s campus, I wished to create a chair that could mimic the berries’ playfulness. I also wanted to figure out how to incorporate textiles in my work. This chair gave me an excuse to experiment with fabric kept. It was from this project that I fell in love with upholstery and sewing.
An interesting aspect of this chair was that it was almost entirely designed within the RHINO software. The wooden frame of the chair was cut on a CNC machine, while the pillows had their patterning cut on the lasercutter. This was the first project in which I cut fabric on the lasercutter.
