Light Box
Illuminating my Process as a Designer
Created to illuminate from the inside out, this box was originally meant to help light up a Monstrance in a chapel at Brown. It was made with ash wood and sandblasted glass, with a solid ash lid. It was the first time sandblasting and glass usage was tried, and it taught me a lot about implimenting other materials in wooden construction.
In addition, this box helped me figure out how I thought as a designer. In making this box, I had a lot of trouble picturing the final product from its orthographic drawings. This led me to rethink how I approached my projects. With the help of my professors, I began to create a a better design process that worked to my strengths. This new process stuck with me throughout the rest of my time at RISD.
